IBPS PO Photo and Signature Upload Requirements 2025-26

Your IBPS application form is open and the portal just rejected your photo or signature. Here are the required specifications — check these first before compressing or re-uploading anything.

Why IBPS PO photo upload fails even after you compress the file

The IBPS portal runs two independent checks on every upload: pixel dimensions and file size. Both must pass. If either fails, the portal rejects the upload — and the error message it shows does not tell you which check failed.

This is why most candidates keep compressing the same photo and keep getting rejected. They assume the problem is file size, compress further, and re-upload — but the actual problem is that the pixel dimensions are wrong. A smartphone photo is typically 3,000–4,000 pixels wide. Even compressed to 25KB, that photo at 3,000px wide fails the dimension check every time.

Fix the dimensions before the file size. Resize to the required pixel dimensions first. A correctly-sized small image compresses well, and the output quality is far better than forcing a large original down to a tiny KB target.

PNG files are rejected even if they are under the size limit

IBPS portals accept JPG and JPEG only. A PNG file — even one that is 12KB — will be rejected because the portal checks the file format before it checks the file size.

This catches candidates who capture their photo as a screenshot (which saves as PNG on most Android and iOS devices), or whose photo was forwarded via WhatsApp and saved in PNG format. The file may look like a photo, may be the right dimensions, and may be well under the KB limit — but if the extension is .png, the upload fails.

Check your file extension before uploading. It must end in .jpg or .jpeg. If your photo is currently a PNG, open it in any photo app or image viewer, and export or save it as JPEG before compressing.

How to prepare your IBPS PO photo — step by step

1. Start with a clear, recent passport-size photo on a plain light background. The photo must show your face clearly — no sunglasses, no heavy filters.
2. Resize to the required pixel dimensions. Use our online resizer and set width to 200px, height to 230px. Do not skip this step — compressing a large original produces a blurry output at the same file size.
3. Compress to the required KB range. Upload the resized image to our 20KB compressor and download. The output will be well within the 20KB–50KB range.
4. Confirm the file extension is .jpg. Check before uploading. If it shows .jpeg, that is also accepted. If it shows .png or .webp, rename or re-export as JPEG.
5. Upload. If the portal still rejects the file, open your specific notification PDF and re-check the dimensions — IBPS Clerk, RRB PO, and RRB Clerk each have their own specifications.

How to prepare your IBPS signature — step by step

The signature is harder than the photo. The file size ceiling is lower (20KB maximum), and the dimensions are unusually wide relative to their height — which means auto-crop tools often get the resize wrong.

1. Sign on white paper with a dark pen. Photograph or scan the signature in good light — shadows make the background grey, which increases file size because the compressor has to store more colour variation.
2. Crop tightly to just the signature. Remove white space above and below. A tightly cropped signature at 140×60 pixels compresses smaller and looks better than one with large margins.
3. Resize to 140 × 60 pixels. The wide-and-short shape means most auto-resize tools default to the wrong proportions — verify the output dimensions explicitly.

5. Save as JPG and confirm the extension before uploading.

Four mistakes that cause repeated IBPS upload rejections

• Compressing before resizing. A 3,000px-wide photo compressed to 25KB forces the algorithm to discard enormous amounts of colour data — the output is visibly blurry. Resize to pixel dimensions first, then compress. The quality difference at the same file size is significant.
• Using the wrong notification PDF. IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, RRB PO, and RRB Clerk are separate exams. Specifications differ. Always read the notification for your specific exam, not another candidate's screenshot or a third-party guide.
• Uploading PNG format. Format check runs before size check. PNG is rejected regardless of file size. Export as JPEG before compressing.
• Taking error messages literally. "File size too large" sometimes means the pixel dimensions are wrong. "Invalid file" can mean PNG format. If the file size and format look correct, check the pixel dimensions — they are often the real cause.

Once both uploads are accepted, save the compressed files on your phone or computer. Most IBPS portals do not allow you to re-upload after form submission.
